"a mother's arms are made of tenderness and children sleep soundly in them"

(Title quote by Victor Hugo)

I finally get to post some baby pictures from about six months ago, that my beautiful and talented sister-in-law took of my darling child.

Little aside first: My baby girl is the most captivating thing ever to hold my attention. I knew not the extent of my ability to love until she came into my life. She is all that is good in me. She is my sweet angel baby, whom I would not trade for all the world.

Ok, blubber blubber....here are the pictures! Feel free to swoon...(and be jealous ;) haha)

"man's heart away from nature becomes hard"

(Title quote by Standing Bear)

We decided to get out of the house on this perfect 50-ish degree day that God blessed us with! We went just two or so miles from the house to this great park by the river. We walked around, built a little stick fort and just enjoyed each others company.

Here are some pictures we took on the way!

"what a happy and holy fashion it is that those who love one another should rest on the same pillow"

(Title quote by Nathaniel Hawthorne)

My hubby is home! After a long week of work (he works out of town), he has returned to protect the home and help with chores! I love his company, but I also love how safe he makes our home feel! I so dislike being home during the week and being totally convinced that every stray noise that I hear is a bad guy.

Anyway, not much to report, just glad to have some adult company at home so I don't have to talk to myself anymore. Oh...and my husband is the bomb.

"to bring up a child in the way he should go, travel that way yourself once in a while"

(Title quote by Josh Billings.)

My parents are amazing! I want to dedicate this post to them. My dad is my strong, thoughtful, outgoing, big hearted, super funny, handy hero. My mother is my sweet, humble, hilarious, submissive, organized, intelligent hero. They compliment each other more perfectly than sunflowers and sunshine. They love with an impressive and longlasting love. They have been through it all and more together and still take the time to bring each other coffee and make out in the shoe closet!

My dad taught me what is means to love family. He taught me how to love a daughter and show her God's worth. He has told me that I am worth fighting for and has acted on that. He has told me that I was worth waiting for, and forgave me and loved me when I acted outside of that.

My mom has taught me how to be a wife. She has taught me the importance of being a quick learner. She has showed me how to pray and wait patiently. She has loved me despite the countless hurts I have inflicted. She has been a listening ear when I have needed it most.

Thanks, daddy and mumshy! I will always be your bunny, your lizbeth, your hank bumpster, your baby girl.

some pictures of my sweet baby...

"in summer, the song sings itself" -william carlos williams

I have always loved the warm summer breezes and the ease of not bundling up to go outside! Today is a beautiful, though blustery, Wednesday. I sure wish my darling husband didn't work out of town all week...tonight would be grand for sharing a glass of wine in the back yard and talking about nothing and everything.

Yesterday, a sweet girlfriend of mine from church came over to visit. She is now four days away from her due date for her first baby! As a one time mom myself (H is my step-son) I thought about what, if any, wisdom I could pass on. I told her that since I had only done things one time, I still felt like I had no clue how everything happened and that it would take a few more times for me to actually feel like I had the hang of things and could give good advice!

Ada, my baby girl, is an angel. Although I had a nasty hard pregnancy, my labor was short and sweet! I wrote a few time in a baby journal for her and I thought I would include some of those entries here for you all to read, so here it goes!

'God is the divine quilter. How lovingly he gathers up the scraps and remnants and leftovers of my experiences, my brokenness, and my joy. With the skillful needlework of grace, he stitches it all together to make a wonderful whole [YOU].' -Lucinda Secrest McDowell

To my dear, sweet Adalia,
I love you with a love beyond description. You're expected to arrive in about two months and I can't hardly wait. I have so much I want to do with you, share with you and tell you! I am already filled with joy when I think of your first laugh, your first smile, the first time you speak or dance or sing...I also already am heartbroken thinking about your first tear, our first arguement, your first scratch and bruise. But I am joyously full of confidence in the promises of the Lord- that He will be gracious and merciful, that he will always be with you, and that he has a good plan for your life. My constant prayer is that you will love God and follow His good and perfect will. I will not always be patient or kind, and I will never be perfect, but God, your Heavenly Father, is without fault, unconditionally in love with you, and your constant companion. Rest in Him and find peace in his promises. I will love you forever, sweet child.
Love, Momma

Baby!

I will blog once she sleeps...later on.

ahh, the satisfaction of a job well done...

I just cleaned my kitchen...CLEAN! I got Miss Ada down for a nap and scrubbbbed! My sinks are shiny, my stove is as clean as it gets now and the dishwasher is running. There is a sweet feeling that comes with being able to step back and look at a clean kitchen.

Now, here I sit. I must say that getting away from chores and babies to sit down with my thoughts has been a great blessing!

I am spending much of today praying through my thoughts, as I should every moment of every day! But today I am pondering staying where we are currently living or moving closer to my parents to help them with their horse ministry. We live only about an hour from them now, but have the opportunity to move to a farm closer to them where we could actually be the location for the ministry. My quandry: as we wait to hear about job opportunities for Tom in that area, our current pastor emailed us to ask how we felt about jumping on board with our local church here and becoming Core Team Members. What an honor it would be to serve with these men and women! Is God calling us to stay? To plant our flag here and run alongside these brothers and sisters?

If you have heard a word from God in our behalf....LET ME KNOW! I am terrible at waiting. Also, I am not so great at sitting and hearing from the Lord. I am a "I need this and this and this....." sort of pray-er too often. So, pray that I will change in that. Also, again, if God chooses to tell YOU what is right for us, just let me know :)
